Shenzhen Eastern Bus has adjusted 130 routes given that Metro Lines 6 and 10 will be put into use this year to better benefit passengers, said Kong Guoqiang, deputy general manager of Shenzhen Eastern Bus at an event held Saturday at the north square of Shenzhen Book City CBD Store in Futian District.

Officials of Shenzhen Western Bus and Shenzhen Bus Group also attended the event to converse with citizens on the topic of how public transportation improves life quality, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.

Shenzhen Eastern Bus has extended six routes to Daya Bay, Dongguan and Huizhou.

Xu Jiyong, deputy general manger of Shenzhen Western Bus, said that the company is focusing on building facilities to improve accessibility for the disabled this year.

The company currently runs 52 bus routes in the city. A total of 386 buses are barrier-free vehicles. The company also installed automatic ramps on 88 buses to help the disabled get on and off the bus.

Shenzhen Bus Group has adjusted 15 bus routes to provide better services for citizens to commute between Metro stations and bus stops.

In another development, Shenzhen Bus Group will launch three tour bus routes in October to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

A total of 10 public buses will run the three routes that are designed with different themes in three colors, namely red, blue and yellow.

The red line is for humanities and history. Tourists can enjoy stories about the city's reform and opening up and cultural relics in Shenzhen.

The blue line is about science, technology and ecology. It will present to tourists the city's achievements in the high-tech industry and in environmental protection. The yellow line is designed for tourists to enjoy the city's views at night.
