Shenzhen reported a new imported case of COVID-19 yesterday, according to the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission.

The case, a cross-border truck driver from Hong Kong, came to Shenzhen via Wenjindu Checkpoint on Monday. The 60-year-old, surnamed Chen, received a routine nucleic acid test when entering Shenzhen and the preliminary screening result came out positive, according to a DT News report.

The Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention completed a reassessment yesterday and the result was also positive. Chen was then transferred to the backup hospital area of Shenzhen No. 3 People's Hospital for treatment, and was diagnosed by a panel of experts as a confirmed case of COVID-19.

The patient had previously undergone routine nucleic acid tests Nov. 20, 22, 24, 26, and 28 at Wenjindu Checkpoint, and the results were all negative, DT News reported.

Chen had a mild cough Sunday and felt better after taking medication on his own. He did not seek medical treatment.

A preliminary epidemiological investigation shows after entering Shenzhen on Monday, Chen had been to the Longyuanyuan housing estate in Luohu District at 11:17 a.m., had lunch at a restaurant on Baiyin Road, Pinghu in Longgang District, and arrived at a farm produce store on Baoli Road in Bainikeng Community in Pinghu to pick up fruits at 2 p.m. before leaving Pinghu for Wenjindu at 6:10 p.m.

Citizens who have visited the above-mentioned areas are encouraged to take the initiative to report to their communities for nucleic acid testing.

A total of 11 close contacts of Chen and 41 close contacts of the 11 people have been identified. The 52 people have been quarantined and their nucleic acid test results are all negative.
