Guangming District is home to returnees and their families who have moved back to China from Vietnam. The returnees kept the tradition of making zongzi during the Dragon Boat Festival while living overseas.

Through a combination of Chinese cooking methods and Vietnamese catering techniques, steamed zongzi, filled with glutinous rice, green beans and pork belly, is made into the shape of cylinder with a length of 30 cm, resembling a pillow wrapped up in large phrynium leaves that leave a greenish color on the filling upon completion.
