Guangming District is advancing its ambition to host a national core cluster for the brain science and brain-computer engineering industry.

A high-quality development symposium, held recently at the Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, brought together over 30 experts and representatives from government agencies, universities, hospitals, research institutions, enterprises, industrial parks, and investment groups to strategize the industry's future in the district.

At the symposium, Wang Liping, director of the Institute of Brain Cognition and Brain Disease Research at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, provided a comprehensive overview of the latest global technological advancements, current development status, and future trends in brain science.

Wang emphasized the importance of tailoring these insights to fit Guangming's unique local context.

Feng Yile, deputy general manager of China International Capital Corporation Capital, shared an in-depth analysis of investment opportunities and challenges within the brain science sector. Feng underscored the need to "empower industrial development through capital, deeply integrating financial resources with technological innovation" as a key strategy to drive growth.

The event also featured dynamic discussions on policy support, collaboration among academia, research, and industry, and  coordination across the industrial chain, fostering new ideas to propel Guangming's brain science sector forward.

The symposium served as a premier platform for cross-sector experts to exchange insights on the current research landscape, technological frontiers, market trends, and financial investment prospects in brain science. Their collective expertise illuminated a pathway for Guangming toward high-quality, sustainable industrial development.

District officials reaffirmed their commitment to establishing the area as a leading innovation hub in brain science. Efforts include continuously refining industrial policies to nurture a supportive ecosystem for industry growth.

To date, Guangming has deployed critical scientific infrastructure focused on brain analysis and simulation, pioneered China's first specialized brain science policy, and developed a dedicated brain science industrial park. Furthermore, the district has launched a 1 billion yuan industry fund and is advancing a 160 million yuan seed fund — Shenzhen Blue Ocean Zhiniao Seed Fund — to comprehensively strengthen industrial capabilities.

These initiatives position Guangming District at the forefront of China's brain science innovation landscape, signaling strong momentum toward building a globally competitive brain science cluster.
