Guangming District recently launched its first pet-friendly, park-style cultural and tourism complex, PetJoy Star Park, marking a new milestone in the development of the local pet economy and urban leisure offerings.
The project is located at the intersection of Guangming International Auto City and Minghu City Park, adjacent to the Minghu Smart Valley—one of Guangming's four key development areas. Covering about 40,000 square meters, the complex moves away from the traditional shopping mall model by placing pet-centered social experiences at its core. It integrates diverse functions such as eco-leisure, science education, and themed retail, aiming to create a high-quality, pet-friendly urban lifestyle hub, according to Bao'an Daily.
Comprehensive design for pets and people
Indoors, the park will feature facilities including a pet hotel, a behavior training school, a smart pet kitchen, a cat-only lounge, a pet-and-owner climbing center, and a temperature-controlled swimming pool. Outdoors, three themed zones—Pet Amusement Park, Pet Intelligence Park, and Pet Play Park—will offer attractions such as a water park, obstacle course, scent library, and competition-grade event lawns. The concept embodies a “paw-to-person” experience, ensuring friendly interactions at every stage.
Partnerships and certification
At the launch ceremony, PetJoy Star Park unveiled its nameplate, signaling the start of its preparations for operations. The Guangdong Pet Industry Association granted the project designation of a “Pet-Friendly Standard Certification Complex.” Agreements were also signed with Guangming District Investment Holdings Group, Shenzhen Zhili Technical School for school-enterprise collaboration, and several pet brands including McKenic and PetAir for tenancy.
Looking Ahead
According to the project's management, PetJoy Star Park will use the launch as a starting point to deepen collaboration across sectors, while exploring innovations that link the pet economy with technology and cultural creativity. The goal is to establish a model for high-quality, pet-friendly urban living in Guangming, shaping a new cultural and tourism landmark that will serve Shenzhen and the wider Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
