Innorna Biomedical, a biotechnology company based in Guangming District, has been nominated for the 2026 Prix Galien USA Awards in the Best Startup category, placing it among four Shenzhen companies on this year’s shortlist.
Often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of the pharmaceutical industry,” the Prix Galien was established in 1970 and is widely regarded as one of the biomedical industry’s most prestigious honors, recognizing scientific innovations that significantly improve human health.
Innorna’s nomination reflects its innovation in the development of its messenger RNA-lipid nanoparticle (mRNA-LNP) platform and its expansion from vaccine development into therapeutic applications. Its lead candidate, IN026, is an investigational mRNA therapy for treating treatment-resistant gout designed to lower uric acid levels.
In March 2026, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration cleared IN026 for clinical trials under an Investigational New Drug application, expanding the potential application of mRNA-based protein replacement therapy to common chronic diseases.
Innorna has raised a total of US$150 million to date. The company has established its headquarters in Guangming Science City and is part of Guangming District’s “3+3+1” industrial cluster strategy.
Guangming Science and Technology Development Group, the district’s State-owned industrial investment platform, has identified Innorna as a key strategic investment project. The group is advancing its investment while continuing to provide industrial support, using state-backed capital and resources to help the company pursue long-term growth and accelerate commercialization.
