On Aug. 26, Qiu Haohang, deputy Party chief and district mayor of Guangming District, inspected the district's central area and learned about its planning and construction which is in full swing.

The Guangming Central Area, located in the center of the district, neighbors the facility cluster zone of Guangming Science City to the north, the industrial transformation zone of the science city to the south, the Maozhou River to the west and Guangming Forest Park to the east. It's situated in the core area of different major functions and platforms of Guangming District.

The central area enjoys convenient transport and a rich ecological environment. It’s the main pre-approved land development area in Guangming District. The central area has a total area of 818 hectares, and has 54 land integration projects, two benefits integration projects and 25 urban renewal projects.

The Guangming Central Area is pushing forward several projects including the "three horizontal and two vertical" roads project, the Science City sports center project, the Science City Park project, and the urban renewal site on the south side of Shishan Industrial Park.

The "three horizontal and two vertical" roads project includes five roads, nine projects and 13 sections. The main road projects include Huayu Road, Gongyuan Boulevard, Guanghui Boulevard, the north section of Tangming Road, Kexue Boulevard, Chaishan South Road, Lilin Road and Guanghui Boulevard.

Huayu Road, which was opened to traffic last Oct. 28, is clean and spacious with beautiful scenery, street lights, bus stops, slow lanes and other unique construction. It's reputed as the "most beautiful road" in Guangming District.

The Science City sports center, located in the central area of Guangming Science City and to the north of the Science City Park, covers an area of 52,500 square meters with 125,900 square meters of floor area. The sports center consists of a 10,000-seat gymnasium, a 1,100-seat natatorium, a comprehensive hall, apartments for athletes and 1,000 parking spaces.

The Science City park, located at the central area, links Gongchang Road on the north, neighbors Guangqiao Road on the east and reaches Louhuan Road on the west. The park, covering an area of 2.08 million square meters, will be built into a comprehensive park integrating different functions including science education, sports, entertainment and leisure. It can be reached from the Science Park, Loucun and Guangming stations of Metro Line 6.
