The China Construction Industry Association recently released its list of 119 projects winning the Luban Award for 2022-2023, which includes the Guangming Culture and Art Center, the first project winning the award in Guangming since the district's establishment.
The Luban Award is the highest award for construction quality in China. Known as the "Oscars of the Chinese construction field," the award is presented once every two years.
Before winning this award, the Guangming project has won many other awards such as the 2018 Excellent Construction Site Award for Safe Production and Construction of Shenzhen Construction Projects, the Second Prize of the Ninth Guangdong Provincial Architectural Design Award in Public Construction Category of 2019, and the First Prize of International BIM Competition of China Smart 2019.
The Guangming Culture and Art Center, close to Xincheng Park, neighbors Guanguang Road on the west, and links Chuangtou Road and Niushan Road on the east.
The whole building is square in shape. It covers an area of 37,871.9 square meters and has a total construction area of 130,000 square meters. The design of the building uses the elements of Lingnan folk houses and adopts a layout of the Chinese character "回," forming a courtyard with a beautiful landscape.
The center integrates culture, performing arts, exhibition and leisure. It includes five functional divisions: a performing arts center, an art gallery, a library, an urban planning exhibition hall and a cultural complex. It’s the largest cultural and art complex with the most complete functions, the most complete facilities, and the highest level of architectural intelligence in northern Shenzhen.
The landscape design of the center was inspired by the picturesque landscape of Guangming District. It incorporates the concept and technology of a sponge city. After a series of effective measures, the project can absorb and re-utilize 84% of the total annual rainfall, and the average annual reuse of rainwater will reach about 20,000 cubic meters.
