Search online for the best pianists of our time, and you will find Martha Argerich's name on almost every page. For those who wish to listen to a piano maestro performing live, the Guangming Culture and Art Center has good news: a group of musicians led by Argerich will grace the venue this November with two classical music concerts.

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Argerich showed talent on the piano early in her life. She started learning the instrument at the age of 3 and gave her debut concert at 8. At 16, she won the Geneva International Music Competition and the Ferruccio Busoni International Competition, and at 24, she won the VII International Chopin Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious competitions in classical music.

Argerich's repertoire is wide-ranging, and she is renowned for both her virtuosic technique and emotional depth. Her recordings have been released by numerous labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, RCA, Sony, Philips, and Teldec. She has received many honors for her achievements, including three Grammy Awards, a place in Gramophone's Hall of Fame, the Kennedy Center Honors, the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, and the National Order of the Legion of Honor.

Since 1996, Argerich has served as the General Director of the Beppu Argerich Music Festival in Beppu, Japan. From 2002 to 2016, she curated her music festival in Lugano, Switzerland, and since 2018, she has been running a similar festival in Hamburg, Germany.

The two upcoming concerts in Guangming District, with different programs and lineups, will offer listeners distinct enjoyment. The complete ensemble will include violist and conductor Lyda Chen-Argerich, pianists Theodosia Ntokou and Li Jian, violinists Gil Shaham and Marie-Françoise Pallot, cellist Edgar Moreau, and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra.
