About 300 residents converged recently at Hongqiao Park in Guangming District for a hike to inaugurate the district's 2025 outdoor sports season.

The hiking route spans 11 kilometers, commencing at the park. Walking along this picturesque path, hikers visited renowned landmarks like Hongqiao 1958 and the historic Jingkou Ancient Village, where an array of festive activities is being held, including markets showcasing intangible cultural heritage and immersive cultural experiences.

Participants not only had the opportunity to bask in the romantic ambiance of Dadingling Greenway and the Glass Bridge, but also delved into the rich tapestry of traditions at the 800-year-old Jingkou Ancient Village.

They savored classical music, relished traditional delicacies, bought artisanal goods, and immersed themselves in the captivating allure of age-old customs.

The route was one of the six hiking routes the district has launched for the outdoor sports season.

Ranging from 5 to 15 kilometers in length, these routes wind through key locales such as Hongqiao Park, the idyllic Fun Farm, the engaging Science Park, and the scenic Mazhou River Greenway, catering to the varied preferences of residents.

To date, the initiative has garnered enthusiastic participation from over 3,000 outdoor sports enthusiasts who have eagerly signed up online to partake in these exciting expeditions, according to the district.

Guangming District will host a series of important sports events this year, including the imminent kickoff of the 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup in China, featuring an inaugural match between China and Qatar during the Lantern Festival on Feb. 12, and the upcoming 15th National Games.

The 15th National Games will be held in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao from Nov. 9 to 21. The opening ceremony will take place in Guangzhou, while the closing ceremony will be held in Shenzhen. Guangming will host events in soccer, equestrian sports, and cycling.
