Guangming District People's Hospital recently achieved a major milestone by passing the China International Hospital Accreditation, becoming the sixth hospital nationwide and notably the first district-level hospital in China to attain this prestigious certification.
The China International Hospital Accreditation standards were initially developed by Shenzhen and, in 2022, earned certification from the International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation Association (ISQua EEA). These comprehensive standards cover 186 criteria across hospital functions, medical quality, safety management, and more, ensuring alignment with international best practices.
The hospital began the accreditation process in 2023, engaging experts for multiple rounds of on-site guidance. In November 2024, an expert evaluation team carried out a rigorous four-day assessment. The team praised the hospital's exceptional performance in medical quality, patient safety, operational management, and patient-centered care, confirming it meets international certification standards.
As the core public healthcare provider in Guangming District, the hospital has been at the forefront of advancing specialized services and critical care. It has established nationally recognized centers, including the Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center, and now handles more than 4.5 million outpatient and emergency visits annually, serving both Guangming and surrounding areas.
Hospital officials stated that this accreditation marks a significant opportunity to further enhance the quality of medical services. Plans are underway to accelerate the construction of a new hospital campus and expand scientific research capabilities, aiming to strengthen regional healthcare resources and contribute to Shenzhen's vision of building an international medical center city.
Construction on the new Guangming District People's Hospital campus is progressing smoothly, with an expected opening by the end of 2025. Once operational, the new facility will add 1,500 beds, greatly expanding the hospital's capacity and ability to serve the community.
