On May 30, the Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (SUAT) held the event titled “A History of Bright Past, A Future in Technology” to mark the first anniversary of the university's approval by the Ministry of Education.

SUAT also launched China's first university newspaper published in 10 languages.

“Our full-time faculty includes academicians and scholars from China, the United States, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and other countries. In response, we commissioned Shenzhen Daily to produce this 10-language newspaper," said Zhu Dijian, Party secretary of SUAT. "This initiative not only marks a breakthrough in cross-linguistic cultural exchange, but also reflects SUAT's commitment to openness and inclusivity.”

At the event, SUAT signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with the Shenzhen Science & Technology Museum. The two sides will collaborate closely on science popularization education and resource sharing.

Zheng Yongchun, director of the Shenzhen Science & Technology Museum, delivered a popular science lecture during the event. In an interview with Shenzhen Daily, he said, “I hope our students stay grounded while aiming for the stars, and explore the full range of natural sciences. We are part of the universe, with its elements flowing through us. By exploring the universe, we deepen our understanding of ourselves.”

SUAT also unveiled its official mascot: "Zhenmei Cow," which draws inspiration from Zhenmei Dairy Farm, since the university is situated on the former grounds of the farm.

The mascot serves as a heartfelt tribute to the farm's legacy. It symbolizes Shenzhen's pioneering ox spirit, the curiosity and determination of researchers, and the selfless dedication epitomized by the phrase “willing to serve as an ox for the people.”
