When this year's National Day coincided with the Mid-Autumn Festival, a wave of festive spirit swept across Guangming District, fueling a surge in travel enthusiasm. During the holiday, Guangming's cultural and tourism market thrived, showcasing a vibrant picture of bustling crowds and strong consumption.
According to official statistics, the district received 703,100 visitors, marking a 52.15% year-on-year increase, while tourism revenue reached 420 million yuan, up 54.35%. Notably, the newly opened Shenzhen Science & Technology Museum has emerged as a major driver behind this boom, quickly rising as a landmark destination in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
With the Hongqiao Park Carnival and science popularization activities at the Shenzhen Science & Technology Museum as highlights, Guangming hosted more than 40 themed events across its parks, communities, and commercial areas.
These events — focusing on art, countryside experiences, sports, and intangible cultural heritage — created a festive atmosphere of “a new theme every day, new excitement everywhere.” Together, they attracted more than 500,000 participants, turning the entire district into a dynamic celebration hub.
Building on its growing popularity, Guangming took innovative steps to strengthen its tourism-consumption synergy. The district launched a new “Ticket Stub+” model, encouraging visitors with tickets from the Science &Technology Museum, scenic spots, or performances to enjoy exclusive lodging and dining discounts or additional services.
This approach created an integrated consumption chain linking “science education + leisure travel + accommodation and dining.”
Meanwhile, Guangming collaborated with travel platforms to issue hotel vouchers, while encouraging local hotels to develop unique combo packages such as “Ice & Snow Fun” and “Helicopter Experience.” These offerings elevated the one-stop travel experience and led to a 45.5% year-on-year increase in the number of overnight visitors and a 49.3% rise in total overnight spending.
Through a blend of science-themed attractions, innovative consumption models, and creative tourism experiences, Guangming has successfully transformed its “tech magnet” effect into a new engine of urban vitality and holiday consumption.
