This autumn, the Guangming Science City in Shenzhen will host an outdoor music event celebrating folk music — the “Whispering Evening Breeze” 2025 Guangming Outdoor Performance, to be held from October 30 to 31 at the Guangming Culture and Art Center's outdoor courtyard. The performances will be open to the public free of charge.
Launched in 2023, the Guangming Outdoor Performance series has become one of the district's signature cultural brands, following successful events such as the “Autumn Overture Symphony Night” and “Jazz Night in the Science City.” This year's edition highlights folk music, aiming to rekindle urban audiences' appreciation for poetic living through heartfelt lyrics and simple, healing melodies.
The two-night event will feature six acclaimed singer-songwriters and bands performing both original pieces and classic reinterpretations. The repertoire will span intimate urban tales and nostalgic odes to hometowns and distant dreams.
The venue will be transformed into a “musical oasis” with warm lighting and cozy seating areas where audiences can sit, lean, or lie back under the evening breeze while enjoying the performances.
Upholding the principle of cultural inclusivity, the event will remain free to attend, with reservations available through the Guangming Culture and Art Center's official WeChat account. As organizers put it: “Folk songs are poetry in everyday life — the breeze that touches the soul.” This October, citizens are invited to join the open-air celebration of warmth, light, and music.
