The final round of the 2025 Guangming District Volunteer Storytelling Contest concluded on October 10, marking both a showcase of local volunteers' talent and a spirited prelude to the upcoming 15th National Games.
As the first volunteer-focused event in the district's workforce skills competition, the contest provided a unique platform for volunteer expression. Since its launch in mid-September, the event attracted outstanding volunteers from various fields. After several rounds of selection, 13 contestants advanced to the finals.
The competition featured three segments: contestant introductions, themed storytelling and an impromptu Q&A round titled “Voice of the Games.” Contestants drew from their personal experiences to share stories of dedication and community spirit in Guangming District.
After an intense round of judging, Hao Yongjie, a music teacher from Gongming No. 2 Primary School, won the championship. The runners-up were nurse Duan Yanhong from Guangming District People's Hospital and Zhang Zeyuan, a PhD candidate from Sun Yat-sen University.
Guangming District currently has a “1+6+N” volunteer network system, with over 195,000 registered volunteers covering six traditional sectors and several specialized ones. More than 40% of volunteer projects are rooted in communities, playing an important role in grassroots governance. As preparations for the 15th National Games accelerate, Guangming District plans to further rally volunteers to provide strong support for the coming Games.
