The Switzerland Division of the 9th China (Shenzhen) Innovation & Entrepreneurship International Competition concluded in Zurich on Oct. 28, marking another milestone in advancing innovation collaboration between Shenzhen’s Guangming District and Europe.

This year’s competition drew over 300 projects from across Europe, standing out for its large scale and high technological standards. Ultimately, six outstanding projects emerged as winners from the final round.

Hosted by Guangming District, the Switzerland division served as a bridge linking the innovation ecosystems of Zurich and Shenzhen. The event attracted elite entrepreneurs and researchers from prestigious institutions including ETH Zurich and the University of Geneva. With 304 valid entries, the Switzerland division saw a 9% year-on-year increase and became the only overseas division to exceed 300 entries, achieving breakthroughs in both quantity and quality.

During the event, the Guangming delegation presented the district’s latest development blueprint for Guangming Science City and introduced new policies designed to build a youth- and start-up-friendly district. Entrepreneurs were invited to bring their projects to Guangming, where the district promises to offer the best business environment, most favorable policies, and strongest support to help turn innovations into successful ventures.

The competition’s judging panel comprised experts from research institutions, leading enterprises, and industry associations, who provided professional evaluations and guidance.

Beyond the competition stage, vibrant business matchmaking and exchange sessions took place. The Guangming delegation held one-on-one meetings with 21 project representatives, providing detailed introductions to Shenzhen’s innovation ecosystem and Guangming’s talent policies. These interactions led to the signing of 20 cooperation intention agreements on site, further strengthening international collaboration.

On the same day, the Swiss Branch of the Guangming Science City Global Youth Talent Center was officially inaugurated in Zurich. The ceremony brought together representatives from multiple institutions and more than 20 PhD holders. During the event, Guangming signed three strategic cooperation agreements with renowned Swiss institutions.
