Recently, the Department of Ecology and Environment of Guangdong Province announced the list of model cases for "Beautiful Counties and Districts" in 2025, with Guangming District standing out from 122 districts in the province. Notably, it is the only district in Shenzhen to receive this honor.

Guangming has integrated ecological civilization with technological development into its urban planning. It has established the "Guangming District Ecological and Environmental Protection System Planning (2023-2035)."  

To date, Guangming has cultivated 17 national-level green factories and three green supply chains. The proportion of high-rated green buildings has reached 70%, and the total amount of green financing has surpassed 3 billion yuan.

Guangming has made significant strides in water management, improving the quality of 68.9 kilometers of rivers and cleaning up 148 black and odorous water bodies. Water quality has been upgraded to Class III or better, and the district’s river health excellence rate has reached 96.9%.

The district's "sponge city" initiative has been a standout success, covering 61% of the built-up area, with the Fenghuangcheng area winning top honors in national evaluations. Furthermore, good air quality was recorded on 97.2% of days annually, backed by major pollution-control actions and advanced AI-powered monitoring systems.

Guangming's commitment to green spaces is evident in its development of 281 parks and 470 kilometers of greenways, ensuring that "green at your doorstep" is a reality. The district has also linked its eco-zones — such as the Maozhou River and Fun Farm — creating a harmonious blend of nature and urban life.

Over the past three years, Guangming has addressed more than 520 environmental safety hazards and achieved zero ecological emergencies. Through the district's smart environmental monitoring platform, real-time oversight of environmental issues is ensured.
