Fruit-picking farms are drawing an increasing number of visitors to the Jingkou community in Guangming, adding new momentum to rural tourism alongside the area's centuries-old heritage sites.
Jingkou, home to an 800-year-old ancient village, has recently expanded its agritourism offerings with strawberry and blueberry picking farms, which have become popular weekend destinations for urban residents from across Shenzhen.

Several strawberry farms, covering more than 10 mu (6667 square meters), are currently at peak harvest season, while a newly built greenhouse blueberry farm spanning about 15 hectares is expected to reach full production in February. The blueberry facility grows imported varieties known for their larger fruit and higher sweetness, operators said.
The fruit-picking projects are part of a broader effort to develop what local authorities describe as a "sweet economy," combining agriculture with tourism and related services such as photography and leisure activities.
The Jingkou community is working to expand collective economic programs and position itself as a destination that integrates living, employment and tourism, adding a new rural tourism highlight to the Guangming Science City area.
