A delegation of 27 students from the University of Sydney completed a one-day study visit to Guangming District on Jan. 24, as part of a talent exchange program aimed at introducing overseas young professionals to China’s emerging science and innovation hubs.

The visit was jointly organized by the University of Sydney Chinese Students and Scholars Association and the Guangming Science City Global Talent Center. The program highlighted Guangming’s research infrastructure, industrial development and talent support policies.

During the visit, students toured the Guangming District Urban Planning Exhibition Hall to learn about the science city's long-term development strategy and major research facilities. The group also visited Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, a national-level research institution, and Sunwoda Electric Vehicle Battery Co., a leading Chinese battery manufacturer, where they held discussions with researchers and corporate representatives about innovation, internships and career opportunities.

A dedicated talent forum allowed participants to share their academic interests and career plans while receiving briefings on internship programs, employment pathways and policy support available in Guangming. Several students expressed interest in pursuing research collaboration or employment opportunities in the district and submitted their resumes following the visit.

Organizers said the exchange resulted in initial cooperation plans, including closer ties between the Guangming Science City Global Talent Center and the University of Sydney's student association. Two students volunteered to serve as campus ambassadors to help connect Australian students with future programs in Guangming.

Officials said Guangming District will continue to expand international talent exchanges as it seeks to attract young researchers and professionals to support the development of Guangming Science City.
