Hongqiao Park in Guangming has drawn international attention after China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning showcased it on overseas social media platforms.
Mao shared a short video of Hongqiao Park on Instagram and X on Jan. 27, describing the park’s signature 4-kilometer elevated red walkway as “a ribbon” winding through forests and lakes, offering space for walking, running and cycling. Aerial footage showed the bridge cutting through lush greenery alongside egrets, highlighting the city’s ecological appeal.
The post attracted tens of thousands of views and widespread engagement, with users praising the park’s design and calling it a model for urban renewal.
Hongqiao Park has previously gained global exposure. Members of the Greek National Opera visited the site during a performance tour last year, and luxury fashion brand Gucci filmed a campaign there in 2024.
Covering more than 4 million square meters, the park links multiple green spaces and is part of Guangming Science City’s eco-development plan. Local authorities say the elevated design minimizes environmental impact while promoting biodiversity, reinforcing Shenzhen’s push to balance urban growth with ecological preservation.
