During the nine-day Spring Festival holiday, Guangming received 1.18 million visits, up 40.24% year on year, while tourism revenue reached 681 million yuan (about US$94 million), an increase of 31.56%, according to official data.

Major sectors including scenic attractions, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and public parks all recorded strong growth. Key monitored attractions welcomed more than 353,000 visitors, nearly tripling from a year earlier, helped in part by increased traffic to the Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum. The accommodation sector hosted 38,100 guests, with inbound tourism rising 111%, signaling growing cross-regional appeal.

Family travelers dominated the holiday market, accounting for more than three-quarters of visitors. Science-themed attractions and outdoor destinations formed the core of family itineraries, while favorable weather encouraged large crowds at parks such as Hongqiao Park and Minghu Park.

Holiday programming tied to the Year of the Horse also boosted visitor engagement. The Guangming International Equestrian Center hosted themed equestrian activities and interactive experiences, translating online popularity into on-site spending.

Officials said the results highlight the growing effectiveness of Guangming’s strategy to integrate tourism, culture and retail, strengthening the district’s profile as an emerging leisure destination in Shenzhen.
