The north extension of Shenzhen Metro Line 13 has passed final project completion inspections and begun trial operations without passengers, marking a key step toward its opening for full passenger service later this year.
The extension, part of the city’s north-south transit backbone in western Shenzhen, started trial runs after completing major construction and system tests. The line is expected to connect with the already operational first phase, which opened in December 2025.
Stretching about 19.25 kilometers from Shangwu Station (上屋站) to Lisonglang Station (李松蓢站), the extension includes 11 stations.
Once fully operational, Line 13 will link the districts of Nanshan, Bao’an and Guangming, offering transfers to several existing metro lines and easing congestion along key north-south corridors.
Officials said the line will also strengthen connectivity between Guangming Science City and major innovation hubs such as the Nanshan Science Park and the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base, while laying the groundwork for future integration with rail networks in neighboring Dongguan.
