A themed garden from Guangming District won two top awards at the 2026 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Flower Show, which opened on March 27 at Bijia Hill Sports Park.

The exhibit, titled “Monet Garden: Flowing Irises,” received both the gold award in the city garden category and a best horticulture prize.

Inspired by the Impressionist artist Claude Monet, the garden blends floral landscaping with artistic design, using winding pathways and iris plantings to create an immersive, painting-like environment. Interactive installations were also added to enhance visitor engagement.

The project features around 80 plant species, combining perennial plants, themed irises and seasonal flowers. Designers said the approach emphasizes sustainability, low maintenance and replicability for broader urban landscaping use.

Officials said the award-winning garden reflects Guangming’s push to integrate ecological design with urban development, while offering a model for future public green spaces.
