Shenzhen Metro’s Line 13 Phase II (north extension) has entered trial operations after passing project inspections, moving closer to opening later this year.

The 19.25-kilometer line runs from Shangwu Station to Lisonglang Station in Guangming District and includes 11 underground stations. Once completed, it will connect with the existing Line 13, cutting travel time between Guangming Science City and Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint to about 45 minutes.

Officials said the line passes through Guangming’s core development area and faced complex geological conditions during construction. Hong’ao Park Station is among Shenzhen’s first pilot prefabricated stations, using factory-built components and digital management to improve efficiency while reducing noise and the impact of on-site construction.

The project also reserves future links with the Dongguan Metro system, supporting broader rail integration across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
