The 12th Pyrography Art Exhibition will open to the public on May 22 at the Guangming Pyrography Base. Nearly 500 submissions from across China were received for this year’s showcase.

The exhibition, themed “Continuing Cultural Legacy, Art in Light,” highlights the preservation and innovation of contemporary Chinese pyrography, a traditional folk art. The submissions feature diverse subjects and techniques, reflecting artists’ skill and deep engagement with the craft.

A selection committee evaluated entries based on artistic, conceptual, and aesthetic quality, ultimately choosing about 200 works for display. Visitors can expect an immersive presentation celebrating the fusion of fire and wood in craftsmanship, and the vitality of intangible cultural heritage in modern China.
