The first leg of the fifth Rowing League of Shenzhen X9 Alliance of Universities and Institutes Around X-Lake Sciensity took place along the Maozhou River in Guangming District on May 17. The event brought together 22 teams and more than 300 athletes from institutions including the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), Shenzhen University, the Southern University of Science and Technology, and Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School.

The league features three legs: the Maozhou River race on May 17, a June race on the Dasha River in Nanshan District, and a November race at Shenzhen University Town. Each leg crowns winners in multiple categories and awards trophies, medals, and mascots. Teams with the highest cumulative points across all three legs will claim the grand cup.

At the Maozhou River leg, four divisions competed: men’s eight with coxswain, women’s eight with coxswain, mixed eight with coxswain, and the expert eight with coxswain.

Based on accumulated points, Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and Southern University of Science and Technology currently occupy the top three spots on the overall leaderboard.
