Guangming hosts seminar on China-North America cross-border e-commerce

A seminar titled “Serving APEC, Supporting Enterprise Globalization: Winning in North America—The Next Golden Decade of Cross-Border E-Commerce” was held in Guangming Science City, bringing together more than 50 representatives from the cross-border e-commerce, brand globalization, and financial services sectors.

Angela Wu, chairwoman of the U.S. General Chamber of Commerce for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, delivered a keynote speech. Drawing on her extensive experience in China–U.S. trade, she analyzed why the U.S. market remains critical for global expansion, emphasizing its high purchasing power and mature consumption ecosystem.

She also discussed market entry strategies and the advantages of California and Silicon Valley, highlighting how Shenzhen’s manufacturing strengths can be integrated with Silicon Valley’s innovation ecosystem. Wu further introduced the “PACE framework”—Product, Access, Community, and Ecosystem—as a practical model for companies entering North American markets.

Officials from Guangming District’s foreign affairs authority introduced APEC-related service support measures and specialized training programs, highlighting efforts to help local enterprises expand into global markets.

Representatives from Huaqiang Sci-tech Ecological Park presented the park’s support system for overseas expansion, including end-to-end industrial services, one-stop cross-border business solutions, and integrated living facilities designed to support startups and scaling enterprises.

During the interactive session, participating companies raised questions on localization challenges, early-stage resource allocation, and cross-border compliance risks. Wu provided targeted responses based on her industry experience.

Participants said the seminar provided a clearer understanding of North American market dynamics and practical frameworks for expansion, strengthening their confidence in pursuing global growth strategies.
