Karoo Ice Snow World, whose Longhua venue has become a hit, is set to open a new venue in Guangming, expanding the city's growing portfolio of recreational and sports destinations.

The new complex will feature an indoor ski venue integrating skiing experiences, sports events, leisure activities and supporting services. It will utilize advanced air-supported dome technology, which offers shorter construction timelines, energy efficiency and flexible facility design. 

According to project plans, the facility will cover approximately 12,000 square meters and involve an investment of about 200 million yuan (US$28 million).

Officials said the project is expected to capitalize on Guangming's transportation accessibility within the Greater Bay Area, helping meet the rising demand for ice and snow sports while addressing the shortage of large-scale indoor winter sports facilities in the district.

The development is also expected to support Guangming's broader strategy of integrating culture, commerce, tourism and sports, while strengthening the district's appeal as a short-stay destination for residents of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
