Shenzhen Metro launched a special summer travel schedule on July 8, increasing capacity across all 10 metro lines to improve commuting and travel convenience throughout the city.

The Line 6 branch serving Guangming District received additional services following the opening of a same-platform transfer connection with the northern extension of Line 13 Phase II on June 28.

Under the new schedule, the branch line’s weekday off-peak capacity increased by 66.3%, while peak-hour capacity rose by 25.3%. Train intervals during all weekday periods and weekend peak hours have been shortened to 7 minutes and 43 seconds, reducing waiting times and improving connections between Guangming and central Shenzhen.

Other major lines also received capacity upgrades. Line 5 increased peak-hour capacity, while Line 11 shortened its morning rush-hour interval to two minutes. Lines 2 and 8, which serve popular tourist destinations such as Dameisha and Wutong Mountain, increased weekend peak capacity by 40.7%.

Shenzhen Metro recorded 1.657 billion passenger trips in the first half of 2026, averaging 9.152 million daily trips, an increase of 5.3% year on year. The metro operator has carried out five rounds of capacity increases this year to meet growing travel demand.
