The opening of Shenzhen Metro Line 13’s northern extension has brought new opportunities for Shangcun Community in Guangming District, connecting the area with key neighborhoods and expanding access to business, cultural and ecological resources.

The new line links the community with Xiacun and Lisonglang areas to the north, Gongming Plaza to the south, and the Nanshan innovation hub, helping create a more integrated urban living circle.

The improved connectivity is expected to boost local commerce, with shopping centers, neighborhood businesses and food streets benefiting from increased foot traffic. Shangcun’s local cuisine, particularly its popular night food scene along Huafa Road in Gongming, is also gaining wider exposure.

The metro line also connects the community’s cultural and tourism resources, including the historic Chen Xiangu Temple, a municipal-level intangible cultural heritage site, Shangcun’s lion dance traditions and the Guangming Redwood Culture Town, a national 3A-rated tourist attraction.

Beyond culture and commerce, the new transport link enhances access to Shangcun’s ecological and recreational spaces. The 6.8-kilometer Maozhou River greenway, Shangcun Ecological Park and Maozhou River Sports and Arts Center offer residents more options for leisure, fitness and cultural activities.
