Shenzhen International Art Museum held its first “Museum Night” event on July 11, attracting more than 1,000 visitors for an after-dark art experience featuring exhibitions, music and immersive installations.

The museum opened all seven exhibitions at night, offering visitors a new perspective on artworks ranging from Titian’s religious paintings and Xu Bing’s calligraphy installation to bronze animal heads from the Summer Palace.

A major attraction was a 7-meter-diameter illuminated sun installation by British artist Luke Jerram, which recreated the appearance of the Sun. Visitors relaxed in a beach-themed area beneath the glowing artwork while enjoying the light effects.

“Experiencing sunshine inside a museum at night is an amazing feeling,” a visitor said.

The evening also featured a multimedia concert, "88-Key Journey Through the Universe," by pianist Zhang Kangming, combining piano, electronic sounds and real-time visuals.

Nighttime guided tours also provided deeper insights into artists’ creative processes and historical backgrounds.

The event marked the museum’s latest effort to offer more diverse cultural experiences and connect audiences with art beyond traditional daytime visits.
