Media representatives attending the 2026 APEC Ministerial Meeting on Forestry visited Guangming District on July 28, exploring a showcase route highlighting the integration of urban development, ecological protection and technological innovation.

Themed “Green Intelligence: A Model for Integrated Development in the Asia-Pacific,” the tour provided participants a firsthand look at Guangming’s approach to combining science, culture and nature.

The delegation first visited the Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum, a futuristic landmark recently named among the “World’s Most Beautiful Museums 2026” by UNESCO. The museum features 24 themed exhibition areas, multilingual services and 950 interactive exhibits covering fields such as artificial intelligence and smart manufacturing.

At the museum’s low-carbon community exhibition, representatives explored how digital technologies support energy efficiency and carbon reduction, experiencing how scientific innovations are being integrated into everyday life.

The delegation then visited the Shenzhen International Art Museum, which combines Eastern and Western architectural elements and features exhibitions ranging from European Renaissance masterpieces to works by renowned Chinese artists. The museum aims to promote cultural exchange and dialogue between different civilizations.

The final stop was Hongqiao Park, where a 4-kilometer-long elevated red walkway winds through forest landscapes. With a forest coverage rate of 91.8%, the park is home to more than 200 plant species and over 40 bird species, including protected wildlife such as leopard cats.

The visit showcased Guangming’s efforts to balance urban growth with ecological preservation, reflecting the themes of sustainable development and forest conservation highlighted at the APEC forestry meeting.
