Guangming will celebrate National Fitness Day on Aug. 8 by opening multiple facilities at Honghuashan Sports Center free of charge and hosting a family-friendly sports challenge event, allowing residents to enjoy quality fitness resources close to home.

The sports center will offer free access to eight activities on Aug. 8, including swimming, badminton, tennis, pickleball, table tennis, basketball, self-service tennis training machines and the athletics field. The facilities will be available across four time slots — early morning, morning, afternoon and evening — with limited reservations for each session. The athletics field will remain open all day without reservations.

Residents can book spots through the center’s official WeChat account, with swimming and basketball sessions available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to free facility access, the center will launch a summer sports carnival featuring fun challenges for 60 family teams. Participants will compete in activities such as basketball shooting, paper airplane ring toss, jump rope, single-leg balance and height challenges. By collecting stamps from different activities, participants can exchange prizes, with top performers receiving up to three swimming tickets.

The event will also include public fitness services such as national physical fitness assessments and aerobic exercise demonstrations, offering residents free opportunities to experience sports and health programs.
