Shenzhen International Art Museum (SIMoA) will host its second “Museum Night” event on Aug. 8, inviting audiences to experience the intersection of visual art and music through a special vocal performance.

At 7:30 p.m., German vocal ensemble SLIXS will bring a musical journey spanning classical, jazz, pop and world music to the museum theater.

Recognized as one of the leading contemporary vocal groups on the international stage, SLIXS has received multiple Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARAs), including honors for Best Jazz Song, Best Folk/World Music Song, Best Classical Song and Best Classical Album. The group has also won three gold awards and two special prizes at Austria’s Vokal Total international vocal competition and has performed at major jazz festivals in cities including Montreal and Bremen.

Without any instrumental accompaniment, the six vocalists use breathing, tone, rhythm and layered harmonies to recreate the sounds of organs, brass instruments and percussion, transforming the human voice into a rich acoustic landscape.

The performance will feature works ranging from Bach’s “Goldberg Variations” to contemporary pieces by artists such as Sting and Joni Mitchell, alongside interpretations inspired by the poetry of Shakespeare and Arthur Rimbaud. Through sophisticated arrangements and vocal techniques, SLIXS aims to showcase the limitless possibilities of the human voice while creating an emotional connection with audiences.
