Robotics company Mech-Mind officially began trading on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Sept. 1, becoming another robotics company listed under the exchange’s Specialist Technology Companies regime.

Mech Mind signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Guangming District in 2025 to accelerate the integration of embodied intelligence technologies with manufacturing in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Founded in 2016 by a team of overseas-returned Tsinghua University graduates, Mech Mind has raised more than 2 billion yuan (US$280 million) and attracted strategic investors including BYD and Baillie Gifford. Its products have been deployed in more than 29,000 robotic units worldwide and are used by more than 100 Fortune 500 companies.

Unlike traditional robot manufacturers, Mech Mind focuses on standardized intelligent components that provide robots with “eyes, brains and hands.” Its Mech-Eye industrial 3D cameras provide vision capabilities, Mech-GPT multimodal models and software serve as the intelligence layer, while its Mech-Hand dexterous hands enable robotic manipulation. The technologies are used across industries including automotive, logistics, new energy, consumer electronics and home appliances.

The company has a presence in nearly 50 countries and regions and ranks No. 1 globally in the market for AI- and 3D-vision-guided general-purpose robotics components, according to the company.

Guangming, a key part of Shenzhen’s comprehensive national science center, has developed clusters in consumer electronics, home appliances and humanoid robotics. Companies including Lenovo, Holitech Technology and Sanchuan Robotics form a broad manufacturing ecosystem, giving Mech Mind access to downstream customers and real-world industrial applications.
