Chinese online grocery retailer Pupumall opened a new fulfillment center in Guangming District on Sept. 16, expanding the area’s network of rapid delivery services.

The new facility in Matian Subdistrict will initially serve the Matian and Gongming areas, with plans to gradually expand coverage across Guangming. Customers can place orders through the company’s app or mini program for groceries, household goods and snacks, with deliveries available in as little as 30 minutes.

Pupumall’s arrival adds another major player to Guangming’s growing instant retail market. Other services operating in the district include Dingdong and Freshippo, which use neighborhood stores and fulfillment centers to provide fresh food and other daily necessities within roughly 30 minutes.

Sam’s Club has also developed an instant-delivery business in Guangming, while a planned full-size membership store is expected to further diversify the district’s retail offerings.

Traditional supermarkets are also adjusting to changing consumer habits. Yonghui has expanded its ready-to-eat food selection, while Rainbow’s new sp@ce 3.0 store in Gongming focuses on smaller portions and single-person meals. Walmart has increased its selection of smaller packages to accommodate customers who prefer buying smaller quantities more frequently.

The changes reflect the broader development of Guangming’s retail sector, with businesses expanding from basic grocery delivery to more specialized food, convenience and lifestyle services.
