The Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum welcomed more than 180,000 visitors during the National Day holiday, hosting about 400 science education activities that attracted roughly 50,000 participants.
A major highlight was an interactive program featuring six historical Chinese figures — Lu Ban, Li Shizhen, Li Daoyuan, Zu Chongzhi, Zhang Heng and Wan Hu. Performers introduced traditional knowledge in carpentry, medicine, water engineering, mathematics, astronomy and space exploration, drawing connections between ancient innovations and modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, biomedicine and aerospace.

The museum also staged science theater performances by a local school, including “China Orbital,” which explored spaceflight, deep-space communications and Mars exploration.
Hands-on activities included water rocket launches, bridge building, traditional Chinese medicine identification, earthquake-resistance experiments and rocket model assembly. A 2-meter-tall water rocket demonstration proved especially popular, illustrating principles such as air pressure and thrust.
The museum also presented six free temporary exhibitions covering history, scientific research, urban development, public safety and youth innovation. Highlights included an exhibition of bronze weapons from an ancient civilization and a show honoring Huang Xuhua, a leading nuclear submarine designer and recipient of China’s Medal of the Republic.
