Hewan Community in Matian Subdistrict, Guangming, has launched practical English lessons for newly recruited food delivery riders to help them communicate with foreign customers and visitors ahead of the APEC meetings.

The classes focused on simple, everyday phrases for giving directions, confirming delivery addresses and responding to basic questions. The lessons were designed around situations riders may encounter while making deliveries.

Community officials said they would continue improving services at the neighborhood’s “Warm Bee” station, which supports delivery riders and other workers in the new employment sector by providing water, chargers, air conditioning and more.

The community also hopes to encourage riders to act as “mobile observers” by reporting potential safety hazards they notice while traveling through neighborhood streets, contributing to local safety and community management.
