On Jan. 20, the Guangming District Government entered into an agreement with Shenzhen Middle School to jointly establish a new school in the district. Present at the signing ceremony were Cai Ying, head of Guangming District, Wang Shuifa, vice director of the Education Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, and other officials.

Both parties will work together to develop a comprehensive and innovative in-depth cooperation in system innovation, curriculum reform, science and innovation education, faculty and practical education, among others.

"Shenzhen Middle School has top-notch teaching, top-notch teachers and a top-notch philosophy and at the same time Guangming District is embracing a great development opportunity. The cooperation between the two sides will bring the advantages of both into full play, which is important for the development of education in Guangming," said Shen Huaxin, an official of the district.

According to Wang, the signing of the cooperation agreement is a specific initiative of the education bureau to implement the Opinions of Shenzhen Municipal People's Government on Supporting Guangming Science City to Build a World-class Science City, and Shenzhen’s Action Plan for Building the Experimental Zone for Comprehensive Reform of Basic Education of the Ministry of Education.

"A world-class science city will provide innovation soil for the school while a world-class middle school will provide quality education sources for the science city and meet the education demand for quality education of the kids of talents in the science city," said Wang.

"With the strong support and help from the government and society, Shenzhen Middle School has grown into a renowned school countrywide. We hope we can help Shenzhen build more quality schools and provide more quality education resources for citizens to give back to our society," said Zhu Huawei, headmaster of Shenzhen Middle School.

In recent years, the education bureau of Guangming District has worked hard to introduce elite schools to the district to cooperate with them. Thus far, the district has introduced 10 well-known institutions and scientific research institutes, and six municipal kindergartens. Among them, 13 have been officially opened, providing over 20,000 quality school seats.
