The newly upgraded BMX Freestyle venue at Hongqiao Park has been completed to the highest international standards and will host the freestyle cycling competition of the 15th National Games. With its rolling ramps, jumps, and varied terrain, the venue provides a dynamic stage where athletes will showcase speed, creativity, and daring aerial skills.

In freestyle BMX, riders have one minute to perform a self-designed routine using any features within the park. There are no fixed routes or required tricks; instead, athletes are encouraged to innovate with technical difficulty, execution, creativity, flow, and overall performance all factored into scoring. The course layout—its dimensions, shapes, and spacing—directly influences how riders demonstrate diverse styles and skills.

BMX, short for Bicycle Moto Cross, originated in the U.S. in the 1960s and is governed internationally by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). It debuted as an Olympic discipline in Tokyo 2021 alongside skateboarding, and in 2024, China's Deng Yawen won the nation's first Olympic gold in freestyle BMX, sparking unprecedented enthusiasm for the sport. Today, freestyle BMX is attracting a growing number of young people and cycling enthusiasts across China, making Hongqiao Park's new course both a competition arena and a cultural landmark for extreme sports.
