Sun Yat-sen University Shenzhen Campus is the most prestigious universities in the district.

Sun Yat-sen University Shenzhen Campus completed its first phase of construction in June 2023.

Spanning across 5,000 acres, the Shenzhen campus now accommodates over 10,000 students and 1,000 faculty members. With a comprehensive range of disciplines and a complete talent training system from undergraduate to doctoral levels, it houses 17 colleges and two affiliated hospitals.

Phase I is comprised of eight teaching buildings with 298 modern classrooms, over 85% of which are equipped with intelligent technology. Additionally, the phase has five public experimental teaching platforms and 75 undergraduate teaching laboratories, providing students with an excellent research environment. It also includes 11 buildings designed to accommodate faculty members.

The Shenzhen campus officially commenced operations Aug. 24, 2020, with 2,346 students from five departments of the Guangzhou campus participating in its inauguration.

In November 2015, Sun Yat-sen University and the Shenzhen government signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly establish a world-class university, aiming to cultivate high-level innovative talents to support Guangdong's economic and social development. In line with this objective, the university has partnered with the Shenzhen government to build three affiliated hospitals, raising the standard of medical education and healthcare in the region.

As per the development plan, the Shenzhen campus will eventually accommodate 20,000 students, with admission and graduation standards aligned with those of the Sun Yat-sen University Guangzhou campus.
