Shenzhen announced the beginning of the construction of the first batch of projects for 2023 at a conference centering on high-quality development Sunday. Among the new projects, 18 will be initiated by Guangming District involving a total investment of 23.44 billion yuan (US$3.47 billion) and a planned annual investment of 4.43 billion yuan.

Among the 18 projects in Guangming, six are industrial development projects, including Phase I of the comprehensive development project of the Intelligent Sensing and Precision Instruments Advanced Manufacturing Park, nine are for urban construction, including the renovation of school dormitories, and three additional projects.

The Dongjiang Smart Home Industrial Park, located in Fenghuang Subdistrict, covers a land area of 56,000 square meters and will have an additional construction area of 231,000 square meters. The project aims at building a smart home industrial park. The project will help build a hub of advanced manufacturing industries in Guangming District and enhance the industrial structure in the area.

The Kenuo Digital Electronics project, located in Yutang Subdistrict, covers a land area of 16,000 square meters and will have an additional construction area of 22,000 square meters. The main construction content is the scientific research building of the Beidou satellite positioning and communication terminal.

The institute for advanced studies of the Southern University of Science and Technology, located in Gongming Subdistrict, will renovate a floor area of 18,000 square meters. The main construction project includes scientific centers and transfer and transformation platforms such as the advanced light sources center, the innovative materials institute, the low-temperature physics center, the life sciences center, the new drug development center, the chemical biology center, and the Grubbs institute.

The multi-floor factory buildings project for XDS new material industrial space, located in Matian Subdistrict, covers a land area of 31,000 square meters, and will add an additional construction area of 84,000 square meters. The main construction includes a new materials research institute, a core parts supply chain base, and an independent R&D and high-end manufacturing center for bicycles, booster bikes, torque sensing motors and other products.

A high-end biomedical materials development and manufacturing base, located in Fenghuang Subdistrict, covers a land area of 6,000 square meters and has a total construction area of 35,000 square meters. The main construction content includes factories and other supporting facilities.
