A ceremony was held Saturday at Guangming Science City to celebrate the inauguration of Lenovo Group's global "mother factory" in the district, which was another important event that reflects Guangming District's services for leading enterprises.
A "mother factory" refers to a factory that acts as a parent for developing production technologies and human resources and strengthens the function of guiding other factories.
This "mother factory," also known as Lenovo Innovation Park, is a major industrial project in Shenzhen and the most complex intelligent manufacturing factory of Lenovo Group.
With a total investment of over 2 billion yuan and an annual production capacity of over 16 million units, the factory will produce over 50 products including desktops, servers, high-performance computing clusters, and various intelligent terminals.
It will be built into an integrated intelligent manufacturing and innovation incubation platform.
In the future, Lenovo Group will fully leverage the advantages of Lenovo Innovation Park as a "mother factory," strengthen collaborative development with small and medium-sized enterprises, and effectively drive the upstream and downstream flows of the industrial chain to jointly enhance core competitiveness. It will assist Shenzhen in accelerating the construction of a leading advanced global manufacturing center.
After the inauguration ceremony, Lenovo Group executives visited the Guangming District Urban Planning Exhibition Hall to familiarize themselves with the development plans of Guangming Science City. The visiting guests are very optimistic about the bright future development prospects and have full confidence in Lenovo Group's cooperation with the district.
Guangming District has always adhered to the principle of supporting the manufacturing industry. The district now boasts over 744 specialized and sophiscated enterprises, forming a complete and innovative foundation for the development of the manufacturing industry.
Guangming District has held a total of 25 project coordination meetings, promoting the rapid completion and production of the Lenovo project.
To translate scientific exploration into industrial innovation, Guangming Science City has found a way to quickly bridge science with the market. It is being built into a platform where innovative chains can be integrated with industrial chains. It pioneered a model, the first of its kind in China, by hosting innovation and business in one complex. This model helps move the latest findings from upstairs labs directly to startups downstairs where their market feasibility and possibilities of mass production can be examined. Additionally, the researchers can be quickly informed when something needs to be fixed, thus substantially shortening the commercialization cycle and speeding up the science-enabled economy.
