A themed event for the International Day for Biological Diversity was held at Hongqiao Park in Guangming District on May 22, with the district's ecotourism route released on site.

This was the first time for the district's tourism route to be launched through a short film. The route covers Hongqiao Park, which is listed as an "Internet celebrity check-in site" in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA); Dadingling Greenway, which is known as a "natural oxygen bar;" Dayan Mountain Forest Park, which has lush vegetation and towering ancient trees; and the Happy Pastoral, with an international-level urban pastoral complex.

The route also features the Left Bank Science and Technology Park, where wild water ferns and egrets live; Minghu City Park, which is praised as a jade pearl for its beautiful lake scenery; Nanguang Greenfield, with 53,000 square meters of waterfront space; and the Guangming Farm Grand View Garden, which has been rated as a national agricultural tourism demonstration site.

The Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment released the status of Shenzhen's biodiversity and introduced the "Shenzhen Vegetation Record." Representatives from multiple environmental protection organizations jointly read the "Joint Initiative for Biodiversity Conservation," calling on all sectors of society to further protect biodiversity.

Guangming District has abundant natural resources such as mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes and grasslands. It has 15 main rivers crisscrossing and 16 reservoirs scattered throughout the area. Its total amount of permanent basic farmland accounts for 44% of the city's total, with a forest coverage rate of 26.3% and a wetland protection rate of 91.6%.

In 2022, Guangming District organized the first regional biodiversity survey and assessment since its establishment and discovered 18 species of nationally protected wild animals and plants.

In terms of biodiversity education, Guangming District has currently built five nature education platforms, including the Hongqiao Park Nature Education Center. Guangming District will further coordinate the comprehensive management of its ecological resources, weave a biodiversity protection network, carry out biodiversity publicity and education activities, and create a better atmosphere for the whole society to participate in biodiversity protection.
