Six pet-friendly outdoor spaces have been built in Guangming District this year, with a total area of 3,885 square meters, Bao'an Daily reported, citing the district's urban management and comprehensive law enforcement bureau.

The district government selected six locations in its six subdistricts to build the pet-friendly spaces to help pet owners to raise the pets in a civilized manner and promote friendly coexistence between people and dogs.

The new pet-friendly space in Guangming Subdistrict is located in Jinkou Community Park, covering an area of about 200 square meters. With the theme of fun, love, and harmony between people and pet dogs, the main facilities include double-layered gates, entrance sculptures, pet litter boxes, pet toilets, pet sand pools, pet barriers, leisure benches, etc., which have solved the need for about 500 residents in the area to walk their pets.

As a district-level demonstration project, the new space in Gongming Subdistrict is located in Honghuashan Park, covering an area of 2,855 square meters and features seven functional areas including an entrance buffer zone, a small dog activity area, a running area, a comprehensive activity area, a pet science area, a pet supply station, and a small animal fun park. The space is expected to officially open to the public in half a month.

Xinhu Subdistrict has also set up a pet-friendly space themed on pet sports, social interaction, and pet owner leisure activities in Xinchang Community Park. Covering an area of about 100 square meters, it has interactive areas, sports areas, and leisure walking areas, as well as pet fitness areas, dog toilets, dog houses, exhibition boards, and science popularization areas.

The space in Fenghuang Subdistrict is located at Dongkeng Ecological Park, covering an area of 130 square meters. It has an activity area specially designed for pets, as well as drill rings, climbing frames, and balance beams to meet the needs of dog walkers.

Yutang Subdistrict has set up a pet-friendly space in Dayanshan Forest Park in Changzhen Community, covering an area of 400 square meters. The space hosts pet-raising gatherings, allowing citizens to enjoy convenient services such as dog license processing, dog adoption, and pet consultation at their doorstep.

Matian Subdistrict has set up a pet-friendly space near the Shijia Kindergarten, covering an area of 200 square meters. The main facilities include pet runways, pet lounges, sports equipment hurdles, trapezoidal ramps, leisure chairs, etc.

At the pet-friendly space in Fenghuang Subdistrict, a citizen who was walking her dog told the Daily, "I live in the nearby community, and I think the pet facilities here are very helpful and convenient."
