Guangming’s GDP surpasses ¥152B in 2023

Guangming District’s GDP in 2023 exceeded 152.66 billion yuan (US$21.45 billion), up 9.0% year on year, according to statistics recently released by the district’s statistics bureau.

The added value of the district’s primary industry reached 216 million yuan, down 1% year on year; while its secondary industry was 108.97 yuan, up 9.5% year on year, and its tertiary industry was 43.47 billion yuan, up 7.9% year on year.

In 2023, the industrial added value of the district’s enterprises above designated scale grew by 9.2%, surpassing the city’s rate by 3 percentage points. Key sectors experienced varying performance, with electric device manufacturing witnessing a 6.7% increase, while the special equipment manufacturing industry saw a 9.1% decrease, and electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing achieved a 9.6% growth.

The district’s total retail sales of consumer goods reached 25.92 billion yuan, up 8.9% year on year.

The district’s finance industry's added value grew 10.9% year on year in 2023.

Guangming District showcased vibrant development in strategic emerging industries, with the added value of its strategic emerging industry growing by 10.2%. Within this sector, the new energy industry surged by 97.9%, the ultra-high-definition video display industry by 17.1%, and the high-end medical appliance industry by 16.2%.

In 2023, the fixed asset investment in Guangming District increased by 15.7% year on year, and expenditure in people’s well-being accumulated at about 15.96 billion yuan in 2023, up 13.1% year on year.
