Guangming District's Sun Yat-sen University Affiliated School has initiated an innovative program, bringing equestrian sports into the educational experience, Shenzhen Guangming WeChat account reported.
The Equestrian Into Campus Public Welfare Month, which kicked off March 18, has added equestrian simulation courses to the school's curriculum under the leadership of the school's physical education department.
The program has been met enthusiastically, reflecting a significant stride in incorporating equestrian sports within school activities, backed by several societal sectors and the government. Students received a hands-on introduction to the equestrian sports simulation, aligning traditional cultural values with modern educational methods.
Supported by local and regional bodies, including the Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, and the Shenzhen City Sports Development Foundation, the initiative aims to instill an appreciation for equestrian sports and related cultural heritage among the youth.
Students also expressed heightened interest in progressing from simulation to actual horseback riding. Endorsed by Xiao Hong, executive president of the Shenzhen Equestrian Association, the program is seen as a pivotal movement for the future popularity of equestrian sports among children.
Luo Can, the school's Party secretary, praised the program's capacity to enhance student competencies in line with national sports development strategies. This sentiment was echoed by Peng Sha, a parent and chairwoman of the Charity Committee of the Shenzhen Equestrian Association, who spotlighted the transformative impact of equestrian sports in building children's character and resilience.
As part of the broader development of equestrian sports in Shenzhen, Guangming District is witnessing the growth of its equestrian industry. The latest announcement from the Shenzhen Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau confirms the commencement of a groundbreaking project — the Guangming International Equestrian Center, anticipated to become a landmark for the sport in the region.
