An aerial view of the Shangxiacun Reservoir. The reservoir, a water treatment project in the middle and upper stretches of the Maozhou River, was put into operation Monday. The reservoir in Gongming, Guangming District, has a holding capacity of 260,000 cubic meters of water. The major function of the reservoir is to collect sewage and rainwater and direct both toward treatment. It will be helpful in improving the self-purification capability, river conservancy capability and laying a foundation for the ecological improvement of the Maozhou River. Yang Haohan
