Phase II of Shenzhen Metro Line 6 spur line and Phase II of the southern extension of Line 13, both closely related to Guangming District, started construction Dec. 29, 2020. Both lines will connect with Dongguan Metro lines.
Phase II of Line 6 spur line operates in Guangming District, running through Guangming CBD and the Fenghuangcheng area to Guangmingcheng Station. It will connect with Dongguan Metro Line 1. The 4.94-kilometer line will interchange with Line 13 and 18, the Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity railway, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link and the Ganzhou-Shenzhen high-speed rail. It will facilitate the integrated development of Shenzhen and Dongguan.
The southern extension of Line 13 starts from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint and goes to the Dongjiaotou area in Nanshan District. The 3.82-kilometer line will link Shekou with the rest of Nanshan as well as Bao’an and Guangming districts. It will also connect with Dongguan Metro Line 5.
Guangmingcheng Station will be built into a comprehensive transportation hub in the north of Shenzhen, where two high-speed rail lines will meet. It takes passengers only half an hour to get to the Hong Kong West Kowloon or Guangzhou South Railway Station via the Guangzhou-Hong Kong High-speed Railway. The Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-speed Railway (under construction) will improve connections between Dongguan, Huizhou and other cities in the Greater Bay Area with northern Guangdong and southern Ganzhou.
