Work on Baopeng Passage, a new east-west trunk road linking Nanping Expressway, Shenshan No. 2 Expressway and Shenzhen-Zhuhai Link will start before the end of this year, a notice from Shenzhen transport bureau showed recently.
The 53.2-kilometer corridor is a two-level trunk road that runs between Xixiang Boulevard in Bao'an and Phase III of Nanping Expressway, passing Bao’an, Nanshan, Longhua, Longgang and Pingshan districts.
It has 16 interchange overpasses to connect with the south-north expressways and trunk roads.
The passage's central section — between Jianshang Road in Longhua and Longjing Overpass in Longgang — will enhance connectivity among the business clusters in Longhua and Minzhi CBDs, Shenzhen North Railway Station in Longhua, and Banxuegang Science and Technology Park in Longgang.
According to Longhua's planning bureau, the project will be completed before July 2025.
The passage was listed as one of the major roads in the city's 10 horizontal and 13 vertical road network planned in 2018.
In another development, Guangming District has vowed to complete three horizontal and two vertical roads in the district in two months.
The five road sections, including Gongyuan Boulevard, Guanghui Boulevard and Guangming Street, will form a network extending 13.24 kilometers, going through Guangming CBD and connecting major projects like Shenzhen Science and Technology Hall (New Hall), Western Arts Gallery, Science Park and Guangming station transport hub.
